Each year, the Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS® strives to bring its membership value and services. Much of it however, cannot be done without the support of the membership. Throughout the year DABOR members support our programs through task forces based on their varied interests and talents.

Affiliate – Education and Participation Ambassadors for DABOR.  To Promote an understanding of value within the DABOR membership, by providing Education, Support and Relationship building.

Compliance  Oversees compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal controls. It ensures that the members of DABOR comply with relevant laws, regulations according to NAR, Michigan REALTORS®, and DABOR internal policies. 

Detroit The Detroit Committee is dedicated to strengthening the connection between the Dearborn Area Board of Realtors® (DABOR) and the diverse communities throughout Metro Detroit. This committee is focused on increasing engagement, advocacy, and service within the city of Detroit and its surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with Detroit-based real estate professionals, neighborhood associations, and local organizations to promote collaboration and shared success.

  • Education & Resources: Identify and address the unique needs of Detroit-area real estate practitioners by recommending educational programming, resources, and networking opportunities tailored to their markets.

  • Advocacy: Support and promote fair housing initiatives, sustainable homeownership, and equitable development across Metro Detroit.

  • Growth & Inclusion: Work to expand membership by welcoming Detroit-area agents, brokers, and industry partners into DABOR, ensuring inclusive representation and accessibility.

  • Event Planning: Organize and support local outreach events, community service initiatives, and forums that highlight opportunities and challenges within Detroit’s real estate landscape.

Through its efforts, the Detroit Committee plays a vital role in elevating the presence and impact of DABOR throughout the Metro Detroit area, ensuring the voices and needs of Detroit’s real estate professionals are heard, respected, and served.

Education – To establish through planning and visioning processes the future initiatives for DABOR education, and to encourage cooperative educational efforts of our members. Meets 4 times/year or as needed.

Finance & Budget – Responsible for reviewing strategic and financial planning, investment management. Meets 1 or 2 times a year. Responsible for providing short and long-term financial oversight for the organization, creating and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies and practices, producing and updating DABOR’s budget manual, providing clear rules and guidelines for the budgeting process.

Fair Housing/Diversity & Inclusion – To identify the concerns and needs of diversity in membership to include all protected classes and to assist in the development of actions to address those concerns and needs. To recommend and coordinate the Association’s activities to increase diversity within the real estate profession, DABOR membership, and its leadership. To serve as ambassadors to minority real estate local organizations. To identify diversity and fair housing education needs and goals. To promote changes in real estate business practices to reflect the growing cultural diversity. To support members through Diversity, Equity & Inclusion education.

Governmental Affairs/RPAC – Goal is to encourage members’ awareness and participation in legislative and political activities. Some activities include conducting candidate interviews at local and state levels, making recommendations for support and endorsement, raising funds and increasing awareness about the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), and monitoring legislative issues which have a potential affect on the real estate business and private property rights. Raise RPAC funds. Meet as needed.

Grievance – Members serve to review requests for Ethics and arbitration disputes. This committee ensures that all complaints are processed in a fair and expedient manner. Members are approved by the board of directors. Meets as needed. Prerequisite: Three (3) years as a Dearborn Area Board of REALTORS® (Primary or Secondary)*Requires attendance at yearly training.

Professional Standards (By appointment only) – Responsible for conducting Professional Standards Hearings. Committee members must be appointed and required to have served a minimum of 6 months on the Grievance committee before serving on Professional Standards. Meets as needed. *Requires attendance at yearly training.
